Hello. I'm living an interesting life that has taken me to places my Mississippi roots wouldn't have imagined but now which takes me to my long-held dream of writing novels. A few years ago I self-published, What The River Wants, with my goal primarily being to try my hand at writing something lengthy, something I could capture some of my childhood experiences with but primarily something intended mainly for friends and family.
The experience took me through the publishing process and the 5 years since has led me to a deeper study of modern fiction (and the classics I love so much, Thomas Wolfe, Proust, D.H. Lawrence, and all the rest). At the same time, I studied books on writing and editing, took online classes, and even wrote a blog for a while, all intending to professionalize my skills in preparation for now. Here in early 2022, I have finished my second novel, have gone through the editing and rewriting without hesitation, and now am ready to look for a literary agent for, "Prism of Friends," literary fiction alternating between hometown Mississippi and the verve of post-Katrina New Orleans.
I'll be speaking more about this effort, but for now I simply wanted to say hello and I hope we get to know each other better.
